Mattude is a solo photography exhibition by Aziziah Diah Aprilya, showcasing her documentation of coastal communities in Makassar, Indonesia, impacted by land reclamation. The exhibition, which was the recipient of the Objectifs Documentary Award, is on view at Objectifs in Singapore until May 18, 2025.

The exhibition, titled “Mattude” (which means “collecting the clams” in the Makassar language), explores the resilience of coastal women in Makassar, whose lives are closely tied to the ocean. Aziziah’s work, including photographs and field notes, portrays the coastline not just as a landscape, but as a sacred space, a place of play, and a site of resistance against the changing environment caused by land reclamation.

The project was mentored by Jessica Lim and was supported by the Objectifs Documentary Award. The exhibition is part of Objectifs’ mission to support original voices in visual storytelling from Singapore and the wider region, and to encourage photographers to tell stories about their native communities.
