Aziziah Diah Aprilya
Known as Zizi, is a photographer, artist, and writer based in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Her practice centers on documentary storytelling and research. Through images, text, and collaborative projects, she explores urban space, communal memory, and the traces of social and environmental change, often rooted in her town, Makassar.
In 2024, her long-term photo project, Mattude, received the Objectifs Documentary Award. She also published the photo book “Got Your Back” (SOKONG!, 2024), which features a series of back portraits that mentally correlate with various conditions of space and landscape.
Her other works also has been exhibited and published internationally, including at Objectifs Centre for Photography and Film (Singapore), Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (Australia), Monash University (Australia), Soi Books (UK), and Ruang MES56 (Indonesia). She contributes as a photographer for The Washington Post and Project Multatuli, and her writings and photographs have appeared in anthologies such as Badai Belum Usai (2023), PLAZA 001: Southeast Asian Photography (2023), and Riwayat Gunung & Silsilah Laut (2023).
In Makassar, she is actively involved with art communities and literacy groups. Zizi is part of Diversify Photo and Women Photograph, and is frequently involved in film production as a still and behind-the-scenes photographer.
She is available for news, documentary, and commercial assignments.
